New TV Review

Today I told myself I’d be productive which meant I watched a bunch of TV pilots.  Here are my reviews:

Go On NBC
Matthew Perry in skinny jeans is unbearable, just like the concept of the show.  I want to like this show so much, but I fear it will take a miracle or a major overhaul for this show to make it to the back 9.

The New Normal NBC
22 minutes of pure delight.  Ellen Bakin steals the show with her completely politically incorrect one liners.

The Mindy Project FOX
What I love about Mindy Kalling is that I feel like in real life we’d be best friends.  We’d braid each other’s hair and talk about how excited we are for Jennifer Anniston.  The thing that I loved about The Mindy Project is that I feel like her character and I would be best friends.  And Reese from Newsroom is in it (Chris Messina).  As Danny, he’s slightly more likeable than but still is just as hot.

Ben and Kate FOX
Kate and I share the same name.  That’s about the only thing I liked about this show.

Animal Hospital NBC
I want so much more for Joanna Garcia Swisher.  And that’s coming from the 5 minutes I was able to get through.

Business School

In honor of Little Rachel’s commencement of business school, here’s a quick lesson:

What MLB learned after the 94-95 lockout:
Settle labor disputes before the contract expires

What the NBAlearned after the 2011 work stoppage:
A 72 game season is too long

What the NFL learned after 2011 lockout:
They make far too much money to miss even preseason games

What the NHL learned after the 2004-05 lost season:

Dropping F-Bombs in my Sexts: A Cougar's Tale

If you were wondering where we are as a people look no further than the new submissions in this year’s Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary.   F-bomb made the list along with sexting and man cave.  Did these terms really need to be defined?  Did we need to add cougar (in reference to a 40 year old woman looking to pounce on a barely legal male not the animal variety) and bromance?  I was pretty sure that was the purpose of Urban Dictionary, the website not the Merriam-Webster’s dictionary for students who will one day serve as leaders of our country.  That sentence just made me nervous, more so than the thought of future laws that feature emoticons and “u” instead of the much more long winded “you.”

New Music For the New Year

Hello All.  After a month off we’re back and we come with a present in the form of some new music.  Little kate is absolutely in love with this cut from the Footloose soundtrack “Holding Out for a Hero” by Ella Mae Bowen
