If you were wondering where we are as a people look no
further than the new submissions in this year’s Merriam-Webster's Collegiate
Dictionary. F-bomb made the list along
with sexting and man cave. Did these
terms really need to be defined? Did we need
to add cougar (in reference to a 40 year old woman looking to pounce on a barely
legal male not the animal variety) and bromance? I was pretty sure that was the purpose of
Urban Dictionary, the website not the Merriam-Webster’s dictionary for students
who will one day serve as leaders of our country. That sentence just made me nervous, more so
than the thought of future laws that feature emoticons and “u” instead of the
much more long winded “you.”
